Psychometrics is more relevant than ever in today’s society. As more and more chat boxes and artificial intelligence programs infiltrate our lives, harnessing the power of Psychometrics can help organisations achieve greater heights of success.

As the CEO of Alpha Deliberative UK, I firmly believe that any firm, no matter how big or small, can benefit from an understanding of this concept. I know that by applying certain strategies and skills, you can truly help your business.

What is psychometrics?

Psychometrics refers to the field of study of psychological measurement. By using measurement and assessment, Psychometrics attempts to objectively measure an individual’s skills, abilities, attitudes and personality traits. This measurement is done with tests, questionnaires, quizzes and individual assessments, and increasingly can include artificial intelligence technologies.

By measuring a person’s innate attitudes and personality, you can hire the right person for any job within your organisation.

Different personalities and the health of your organisation

Employees are the lifeblood of any business. It doesn’t matter how great your idea or how valuable your product – if you hire ineffectual staff that do not share your vision, you will not succeed.

As former Xerox CEO and chairwoman Anne M. Mulcahey has famously said, “Employees are a company’s greatest asset – they’re your competitive advantage. You want to attract and retain the best; provide them with encouragement, stimulus, and make them feel that they are an integral part of the company’s mission.”

As the lead consultant of a leading online digital research company, I have a fresh slant on psychometrics. One of the main things that I concentrate on is looking at the different personality types, and advising you on how a selection of diverse but complementary types can help your organisation.

How can psychometrics help you select the perfect employees?

Psychometrics can ensure that you are choosing the right employees in the first place. Psychometrics can help you to determine which employees will share your company vision, and which candidates will fit into your existing team. It can also help you to deign which employees might post the most risk to your organisation, and to figure out if there might be a better fit out there.

Are you still trying to use old fashioned methods to select your staff? This is an analogous situation to using a typewriter for all of your documents and spreadsheets! Just as we have better technology for typing in the 21st century, so too do we have better methods for hiring employees.

While a person to person interview is still the standard method for hiring new staff, technologies based on Psychometric principles are being utilised more than ever. Artificial intelligence methods, psychometric tests and neural programming techniques are increasingly complex, and are now able to recognise the specific traits that can make certain employees a better match than others.

This exciting technology is being embraced around the world – and you can make it work for you. My programme, Psychometrics for Change Management, is helping thousands of UK business owners revolutionise the way that they recruit new staff and manage their existing employees. Get in touch today and let’s get started.

As the weeks progress, I am going to use this blog to communicate information about why you can’t go a day longer without using Psychometrics in your recruitment process. This will include articles, quizzes, reviews and fun news from the field.
